Years ago, Luiz had no place of his own, and stability felt out of reach. As a senior on a fixed income, he worried about finding a home he could afford, and where he could have a true sense of belonging.
Everything shifted when his daughter encouraged him to explore Houston’s Second Ward neighborhood. There, he discovered NHH Harrisburg, surrounded by the places and people that made him feel at home.
Today, Luiz finds comfort and peace in his studio-efficiency apartment at Harrisburg. He checks his personal mailbox each day, greeted by staff who know him by name. He walks to Champ Burger and other nearby amenities and spends afternoons in the courtyard playing chess with friends. These simple routines give him both independence and the sense of connection he hoped for.
