Formerly homeless and living on the streets, Virginia Spikes longed for a place to call home. Her journey took a turn in 2017 when she moved to Star of Hope, where she met Lester—the man who would become her partner in life. In December 2018, they made the decision to move to New Hope Housing Reed, embracing a fresh start together. Now, after seven years happily married, Virginia and Lester continue to support and uplift each other.
Since settling into New Hope Housing, Virginia has experienced incredible personal growth. She proudly earned her GED from Houston Community College and is now working on a book featuring a series of prayers and verses that guided her through some of life’s most challenging moments.
As a devoted grandmother, Virginia is passionate about encouraging her grandchildren to aim high, no matter the obstacles. She credits New Hope Housing for playing a pivotal role in her journey.
